*GATEFOLD 2LP**The first compilation of works by British electronic pioneers MLO aka Peter Smith and Jon Tye. Titled ‘Oumuamua’ and second up in the Virtual Dreams series, the compilation is an in-depth artist focused release containing twelve thoughtfully selected tracks that touch on highlights from the duo’s discography as well as newly (re)discovered music drawn from a vast archive of unreleased pieces, sketches and extended jams recorded between 1993-1995.MLO’s ambient explorations began when Pete and Jon, having first met in rival punk bands during the late ‘70s, found themselves with unlimited access to an incredibly well-equipped studio, having been hired to produce an Icelandic pop star’s record in the early ‘90s. Particularly charmed by the Korg PS 3300 and an Emulator 2, Smith and Tye were also deeply fascinated by outer space and set about developing a musical landscape informed by both this new state of the art musical equipment and what lay beyond the Earth’s limits. Painting with a palette informed by classical minimalism, new age and the works of Cluster & Eno; the duos primary colours were drones, sustained tones, washes, calming tides, gentle temple bells and soft angelic voices with flickering glimpses of percussion and drums that hinted at the possibilities of a dance floor.‘Oumuamua’ is a collection of music to get lost-in, a wander down the mazed, mirrored corridors of the subconscious. Peaceful, flowing, fresh-water patterns, drawing the listener toward a mediative, inner space. Not strictly ambient, rather the music rests temporarily within the boundaries between drum ‘n’ bass, library music, soundtracks and Techno. Or how Jon Tye himself puts it: “It really feels like music from a different place, a different time, made by different people.”Artwork by Vica Pacheco, design by Steele Bonus, liner notes by Dr. Rob

✺ 2 x 12” 140g Opaque Gold vinyl housed in 12” phosphorescent varnish sleeves. Includes 60x30cm poster.Amon Tobin continued his adventures with the breakbeat on Out From Out Where, his fourth album. Darker, more complex, even more rhythmically driving and intense than ever before, this huge record cemented Tobin’s reputation as one of the most innovative and important names in dance music today.Out From Out Where differed from its predecessor in that Supermodified was made using only found sound (most of them generated by Amon himself) while here he stepped back to utilise some slightly more traditional sources (displaying in particular, a love of guitar licks). But when Tobin takes a sample source he is never happy until he has warped, filtered and fucked with it until it sounds like something straight from his head. And not just anywhere in his head, but that dingy, cobwebbed corner where no one should go…"Chronic Tronic" sounds like martial music for giants, listening to "Searchers" you’re gripped by a terrible sense of foreboding. "Back From Space" and the intro to "Hey Blondie" have a genuine alien sense of wonder about them. Meanwhile, the beats, as exemplified on "Triple Science", sound like an entire bloco band having a bad trip in the dirt under your fingernail. And as for "El Wraith"...well, let’s not even go there…In fact, this remains the most straight-up nasty album that Tobin has made – music with the power to genuinely disturb. Shut the door, close the windows. Be afraid…
Welcome return for this very sought-after rare electro 12' from tiny Harlem label Express Records. Big with the Cosmic crowd as well as on the early hiphop scene, this is an extremely cool low-slung synth-heavy electro groover with a hypnotically smooth lead vocal, given a sharp percussive edge by the rattling congas and ticky-time chorus. Written at a time in rap music history when the introduction of synthesizer technology created a wild flurry of creativity, this futuristic track by Barry Michael Cooper (who went on to write the screenplays for movies New Jack City and Above The Rim) was Teletron's only ever release. Film's gain was sadly music's loss as this was, and still is, a boundary-pushing, floor-filling monster. Don't sleep!

The Australian master of the dark synth arts is back and – boy – he is out for blood. We’ve been missing Marc Dwyer solo project Buzz Kull since his latest single Last In The Club from late 2019 and since back then we knew he was up to something. At first glimpse, the minimal wave days of We Were Lovers seem far away now that Marc has gone full Club Body Music with his upcoming new album, but there is a thread that binds Buzz Kull hits from the past such as Into The Void, Avoiding The Light and New Kind Of Cross with these ten new cuts: a thread of darkness proper to the most handsome man in the game and that’s here to stay.Echoes of 90’s era Front 242 and Front Line Assembly will resonate from tracks like Fascination and Dead Inside; elements of early body music flirting with the dark side of British synthpop will rave from the grooves of Dancing with Machines and Man on the Beat, while late 80’s Belgian new beat cellar-like vibes rise from Do You See and Burn it to the Ground. But Buzz Kull’s third full-length is not just about music subgenres we all know and love, it’s about a feeling that comes alive only with the dark and drives you through the small hours just to leave you drained and filled at once. The creature of the night is on the loose, the sticky dancefloor its natural habitat, its lust for the upside-down world of the club can’t be cured.
For some time now French label Fragil Musique has played a role in providing a safe haven for a diverse blend of genres, and their next chapter proves they mean to move forward in the same manner. The 26th release on the label is fronted by 95 Steps his aptly named “Sunsize” EP lands 22nd of June on wax and digital. Three classy cuts constructed upon deep and emotional yet danceable narratives, crafted for the fond memories that will be made in the long and warm months ahead.Chunky broken drums and snappy electro arrangements set the tone of the EP in “95 Sunset”, a plucky bass line cruises blissfully around the glitchy body of the track. A distinctive trip taking up the whole of the A side, brightening up the dance floor with the shimmering synths and pads.On the flip side 95 Steps has put together “Things Change”, blurring the lines between garage and electro, tasteful and pacy drums converse with the elasticated groove, the driving force of the track. “Doesn’t Matter” closes off the EP fantastically, the track becomes full of life and energy but still you find yourself slipping into the melt in your mind elements that surround you.Versatile sounds once more from the innovative label, surrounded by amazing music on Yoyaku’s distribution. 95 Steps presents three beautiful and cohesive tracks, maintaining this emotional sunset theme throughout. Hopefully not the last time we see music like this from the rising talent!
✺ This release is delayed by one week, new date is December 9th✺ The vinyl colour will be yellow instead of goldDJ Psychiatre explores a different avenue of his sound. Whilst the enigmatic French producer's penchant for storytelling remains very much intact, he swaps out his usual house-centric sound for a focus on electro. Delivered via acidic synths, infectious melodies and metallic textures, Lucidity EP captures electro's most playful side and proves Psychiatre's stylistic ambidexterity.

Orlando B returns with a timeless track, ‘Foreversong’ for the sixth installment on his ‘Contemplate Recordings’ label.Running in at just over 10 minutes, ‘Foreversong’ is an emotive “tour de force” showcasing his love for nostalgic, ‘Detroit’ influenced melodies and tugging string lines. With its uplifting vibe and atmospheric breakdown, ‘Foreversong’ is the perfect “end of the night” track.‘New Day’ kicks off the B-Side with an uplifting piano house intro’ and a cheeky oldskool vocal sample. The arrangement builds gradually before the kick and bass line drop, taking it to the next level.Closing track ‘Dark Place’ goes down a stripped back techno route to compliment the first two melodic house tracks. The main riff was born out of a jam session, playing around with a twisted hypnotic synth line which mutates throughout keeping the listener locked in. Muted percussion and a subby bass sound give this track a dark warehouse vibe, ideal for moody clubs around the land.

Zobol’s ‘Mirage’ is A record reflecting on the miss-information flying around our planet these days. It makes you think, what is right, wrong, transparent and guised? What is real and what is deception? The A-side begins with ‘No Disguise’ consisting of booming broken kick drums and elements of positively charged future funk. The A-side concludes with the gritty, dubbed out percussion and hazy melancholia of ‘Clarity’.The flip-side opens with the title track, ‘Mirage’ bringing aspects of electro, funk, acid and braindance to the table. Dubbed out chords, mysterious arpeggios and scattered percussion laid over a funky bassline. The release is concluded with a remarkable remix of ‘Mirage’ from the one and only, Nullptr. Who reimagines the original, taking it in a darker but equally mysterious direction.Believe half of what you see and nothing that you hear. Except for this.
Deeptrax go even deeper with ‘Hi8tus’ – the first album from Detroit pioneer and forerunner Suburban Knight in over 12 years. One of the earliest protagonists in the epoch-defining, landscape-changing Motor City cultural movement, and a card-carrying Underground Resistance member, James Pennington’s fingerprints are all over Detroit’s nascent phases as he mentored the likes of Mike Banks, collaborated with Kevin Saunderson and appeared on formative Transmat dispatches in the late 80s and early 90s.Preferring a behind the scenes role for many years, Pennington has operated in the shadows, only ever releasing music when he’s had something to say. There have been long periods of silence in his discography but in recent times he’s returned with a series of singles and outings on Mollison Folson & Derrick Lewis’s Detroit Techno Records. Now time to level up once again and remind us of his sonic skills and stature, ‘Hi8tus’ thrives off its timeless futurist schematics, each one instantly tapping into the deepest of Detroit sources, but doing so without any repetition or covering old routes.Largely breakbeat-based, Pennington pays homage to the electro foundations in a wide range of forward-facing ways; the uncompromising icy opener ‘Far Far Away’, the hazy soul and dreamy waves of ‘Spiritual Ride’ and the gnarled, brittle brutalism of ‘Stalker Turned Electro’ (a nod to one of this most enduring bangers back in the day – ‘The Art Of Stalking’) map out the parameters of Knight’s navigations. In etween we have brooding, pensive moments of tension. The four-to-the-floor prowl of ‘Thy Will Be Done’, the b-boy swagger of ‘Machete’, the glacial dark side voyage of ‘2 Different Worlds’, the list of immersive explorations goes on…Proof that when it’s in your DNA it doesn’t matter how long you pause between releases; it’s about what you say with your music. Suburban Knight’s hiatus is well and truly over.
"Windchime" a remastered UR classic! Sound carries emotion on wax and inspires solutions.
IIan Pooley returns to Radio Slave’s Rekids with Studio A Pt. 2 this February. The second entry in a three-part series of music based around his studio, Ian Pooley’s ‘Studio A Pt. 2’ for Radio Slave’s Rekids imprint sees the bonafide house legend deliver another choice selection of groovinghardware productions.Leading the A-side is the fluttering synths and warped vocal samples of ‘JV Organ & Matrix’, which twists and turns through delightful FX and rumbling bass. ‘Version 2’ of the track follows, contorting elements of the original into a heads-down groover, with washed-out processing and stereo wizardry meeting classic dub techniques. On the flip, ‘Back Up’ keeps it live and direct with hard-hitting, chunky drums and menacing acid lines, with an additional stripped back digital ‘Beats Bass’ version included. Rounding out the 12” is 101202, a dreamy slice of razor-sharp house, with gorgeous, filtered pads drifting in tandem with strung out low end and skippy percussion.Active since the early 90s, the German DJ/producer has released on the likes of Force Inc, V2 Records, and his own Pooledmusic, remixing for the likes of Deee-Lite, Carl Cox and many more, as well as being one of the few to be remixed by

I believe its some kind of Japanese spiritual techno music. It has a profound effect on me.I can hear Larry Heard and Herbie Hancock jamming with the Yellow Magic Orchestra .The musical expression ranges from romantic ambient over to mellow blue electro, wild drum & bass and early trance. This 4 track ep is a continuation of “The Sound There”. A double album released on acido in 2020. Plus a re-issued track that appeared on a Syzygy release in 1995 in japan, under WEB smonika Dja-zz, on the Eva ep.dynamo dreesen
Turbo Recordings presents its grandest achievement yet, a reimagining of Plastikman's 1998 magnum opus "Consumed", Transformed as a new collaborative composition between original artist Richie Hawtin and musical genius Chilly Gonzales. This is an album three decades in the making, brought into the world by Executive Producer Tiga. A masterpiece of restraint, depth, and music as architectural vision, "Consumed" was profoundly influential, defining the soon-to-emerge minimal movement. Shortly after its 20th anniversary, Chilly Gonzales was inspired to compose accompanying piano pieces (counterparts) for each of the tracks and shared them with Tiga, who became the conduit between both artists and led the project to fruition on his label. Hawtin mixed the new combined work, allowing each artist their own space within the project, more of a sonic conversation between them than a conventional collaboration. Consumed in Key will be available as a deluxe triple vinyl LP. The artwork is a reinterpretation of the original album's, flipped to black and white and with the cutout size transposed to the dimensions of a piano key, the die-cut in the white outersleeve revealing a shiny black foil stamp on the black innersleeves.
Active for over 25 years as a music journalist, writer and author of books, Giosuè Impellizzeri was, for a period, also a composer.Through several records recorded since 2002 as DJ Gio MC-505, he has developed a sound obtained on the crossroads between chiptune, electro and synthetic disco with a few glimpses of funk, techno, house and EBM. Now completely dedicated to journalism, Impellizzeri has stopped creating music for over a decade. In the drawer, however, he still had unpublished tracks, written and produced in the past, and five of them now end up in this EP entitled "Saved From Oblivion": from the cinematic "Il Bacio" to the legoweltian "Jupiter Lander", from the biting "Picnic On Pluton" "to" Sexy Song "that plays with 80s synth pop up to cybernetics" The Eyes Of Memory "in which you can see trails of SID style. Made between 2005 and 2006 and recorded live in a combination of hardware and software instruments, the tracks of the EP are subject to an adequate and effective mastering.
