Il a supervisé et coécrit le légendaire guide des disques Wamono A à Z avec DJ Yoshizawa Dynamite. Pour ce tout nouveau chapitre de la série Wamono très acclamée, notre homme Chintam se plonge dans les archives de l'un des labels japonais les plus vénérés : Trio Records fondé en 1969 par le fabricant audio Trio Electronics, aujourd'hui connu sous le nom de Kenwood, le label et ses filialestelles que Showboat et Trash - a publié de la musique de haute qualité couvrant une large variété de genres incluant le rock, le jazz, la fusion, les bandes originales et les chansons populaires, jusqu'à sa fermeture en 1984. À travers les huit morceaux sélectionnés, Chintam déniche quelques breaks de batterie percutants, lignes de basse lourdes et cuivres funky, pour une sélection essentielle de jazz funk et de vibes rare groove produites sur Trio entre 1973 et 1981. L'un des albums de jazz les plus vendus de tous les temps, sans parler du meilleur moment de la bossa nova, Getz/Gilberto a surpassé Jazz Samba en réunissant deux des plus grands innovateurs de la bossa nova - le guitariste/chanteur João Gilberto et le compositeur/pianiste Antonio Carlos Jobim -- à New York pour enregistrer avec Stan Getz. Les résultats étaient magiques. Depuis Jazz Samba, le marché du jazz était inondé d’albums de bossa nova, et la surexposition commençait à donner l’impression que la musique était une mode. Getz/Gilberto ont fait de la bossa nova un élément permanent du paysage du jazz.

"A New Dimension In Cultural Awareness" were the words of Tribe Records' co-founder and trombonist Phil Ranelin as the label emerged in a vibrant Detroit in 1972. Together with other co-founder and saxophonist Wendell Harrison, the duo delivered the first of what would become a treasure trove of spiritual jazz releases with 1973's Message From the Tribe. P-vine has lifted its first track"What We Need" for the a-side with the b-side "The Wok" taken from Harrison's 1981 album Organic Dream.

For the second chapter of his odyssey, we find again Le Commandant Couche Tôt in the middle of the Amazon River, escaping from drones and wildfires in a hovercraft.Une Histoire d’Amour Brésilienne (A brazilian love story) shares a dystopian vision widely inspired by the environmental issues of 2020 and 2021, which illustrates a form of anxiety toward the future.Its soundtrack however is purposely the antithesis of the story: a very optimistic tribute to space-disco and brazilian funk. A “good vibe” pill to give hope for a new beginning.

The 21 track selection curated by Trujillo, a Venezuelan producer, DJ and record collector based in Berlin, explores the forgotten corners of the 1980s and early 90s Spanish music scene. Veering through early bleep and hip house, electro, boogie, Iberian pop and much more, it has broad appeal to both Balearic heads and diggers alike. Serendipitously, the cover art for the compilation is an original work by Yves Uro, a figurehead of Ibiza’s party scene from the 70s and 80s and whose visionary poster artwork became representative of the white isle. While some of the artists or producers on the compilation went on to have notable careers, many of the tracks selected here represent “one-offs” for the artists, and on occasion the labels as well. These sometimes self-released, privatelypressed productions, on short-lived imprints with names like Cantos and Prismatic, document the nascent clubland communities - from the capital, to major cities to the north, and east, and also smaller locales, coastal towns such as Marbella, Gijón, and Cádiz. Ritmo Fantasía is the result of over a decade’s worth of record collecting by DJ Trujillo, searching out bespoke stores, markets, and dealers. For the first time ever, it brings to light and groups together some hidden gems from an era that without it, would likely remain hidden from view.
